Now in a synagogue Jesus will free one of His wounded daughters from the bondage of the devil. The synagogue setting is important because it was in the synagogue back in Nazareth where Jesus announced His mission: “…to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (4:18). Remembering that, we may be prepared for another unpleasant encounter.
